A trip over the long weekend of 1st – 3rd November.
Starts at Foxton, running up the beaches to Kai Iwi. Then taking in Ernie’s Place at the end of the Moeawatea Valley on Friday. Camp or sleep in bach accomodation.
Saturday is a run up to Whangamomona and hopefully taking in Meremere Road en route to Aotuhia (the Bridge to Somewhere) and up the Old Whangamomona Road into Whangamomona itself. Accomodation in town or at the local camp site. Evening meal at the Pub – no driving required afterwards.
Sunday takes in Okara Station south rising up through Canoe Flats and back to Aotuhi and out along the gravel road to Strathmore to rejoin the Forgotten World Highway.
From here head home, or if enough interest some may like to journey northe via Awakino (Monday night) and Kawhia (Tuesday night). Even further north is possible to Port Waikato for those interested. These West Coast gravel roads are spectacular and take in many beautiful and interesting places.
